Hairwrap Care Instructions
1. LOVE IT! Your hairwrap will never fade. Stiffness from all the knot work will soften in time.
2. DO NOT LATHER or wash your wrap. You can get it wet or hold it in your mouth when you shower. Do not get it crusty with soap, that's nasty. RINSE WELL, after drowning it in chlorinated hot tubs or pools.
3. BE AWARE of it. It's already a powerful part of you. Don't be a wimp! The added weight might take some getting used to the first few days. This will pass. If it gets irritated from excessive pulling or rough play, LAY IT BEHIND your neck to the other side to relieve some pressure.
When you sleep, tie it in a ponytail so you don't break base hairs when you rest. LOOK OUT FOR LAUNDRY BASKETS.
*Some people get little bumps at the root of their hair. DON'T PANIC! Just massage the area with some skin softener (Neosporin with pain relief or A&D ointment.) It will clear up in a few days.
4. CHECK MONTHLY for wear. Check and apply gel superglue to your knots, tassel ends and side braids. Trim any stray threads carefully.
5. DO NOT BREAK hairs at the base. Be careful when you brush your hair. This will turn into a little dread as your hair grows. Most people's hair will grow 1/2 an inch every month. Twist with your fingers the base hairs at your scalp, this will keep little hairs from pinching.
6. When COLORING your hair, wrap it in foil or plastic wrap to protect it from chemicals and color.
7. WEAR AND TEAR. There will be some wear and bead loss over time. You can remove it before this happens if you wish to preserve the wrap. VERY CAREFULLY cut your hair at the scalp. Do not cut any threads.
8. CALL ME if you have any questions or issues! In 4-6 months you might want to cover up your growth and get some maintenance. You can keep it in for as long as you want. My hair wrap longevity record is 5 years!
9. REMOVE IT at anytime. They make great keepsakes with a lock of your hair inside. Add a clip to wear it on special occasions after removal. I have my first wrap on my alter.
