HISTORY:
I met my first sign painter, Pinky, creating a wall mural of the WMMS Buzzard on the back of the Cloverleaf Drive-In when I was 8 years old. I was mesmerized and curious! I knew I was destined to be an artist from an early age. I became obsessed and studied everything I could get my hands on. I hung out with my Dad at car shows observing, drawing graphics and pinstriping. Learning how to design fancy show cards for custom vehicles and how to paint bitching flames. After high school, I took private lettering classes from a local artist who decorated our fire trucks in town, including goldleaf. My obsession with the alphabet and fantasy art continued...
I was a professional cartoonist/illustrator making retail posters for 3 years back in the '80's (I was just a baby out of school).
I have always painted signs but decided to commit to them full time and signed my commercial property lease in 1990. Fine Signs and Designs was born in Eastlake Ohio (1990-1995). I was the FIRST female sign contractor in Lake County! I relocated to Willoughby for the next four years before moving the entire dream filled operation to Geneva Ohio in 1998.
As a sign painter specializing in hand painting, my work unusually evolved into constructing cardboard castle displays, painting 2 story commercial murals and sign solutions.
I attended the Leadership Training Program and participated in Cleveland's Parade The Circle for 5 years, a non-electric human powered visual arts parade with puppets, music, stilt walkers and more. Creative studies included: costuming, man-sized puppet creations, mask making, batik, tie dying, various construction on castors for ease of movement, wheelchair designs and body painting.
I enjoy batiking large winged costumes and clothing.
Geneva Business Association, as President I helped create the First Art Walks and Winterfest with local businesses.
